Distributor KMS Components has entered administration.
Insiders told PCR earlier that the supplier of several big-name tech and computer brands, including AMD, Samsung, MSI, Microsoft, Toshiba, ASUS and more, has ceased trading.
The KMS website was live yesterday but was offline as of this morning.
Deloitte directors Richard Michael Hawes and Matthew David Smith have been appointed joint administrators of KMS.
KMS has updated its website with the following statement: "Richard Michael Hawes and Matthew David Smith were appointed Joint Administrators of KMS Components Limited on 8 January 2014. The affairs, business and property of the Company are being managed by the Joint Administrators.
"The Joint Administrators act as agents of the Company only and contract without personal liability. The Joint Administrators are authorised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). All licensed Insolvency Practitioners of Deloitte LLP are licensed in the UK.
A source told PCR that no one turned up for work today at KMS’ office in Wales.
However, PCR understands that a KMS staff member is currently working at CES 2014 in Vegas.
UPDATE (Friday January 10th): An anonymous source told PCR that KMS’ former sales director Steve Bland was at CES this week.
"He still went to Vegas despite being told by the Managing Director last week that the company would being going into administration this week," the source said. "As a director of the company he knew about it before he left. He also resigned in November when the troubles first began at KMS and he is not in Vegas on behalf of KMS."
KMS marketing executive Katrina Dallimore left the business in late December.
