Exertis Micro-P parent acquires CapTech Distribution AB

Exertis acquires Sweden’s largest independent tech distribution business

Exertis, the name of the group of companies that includes distributors Exertis Gem, Exertis Micro-P and Exertis MSE, has acquired Swedish tech distribution business CapTech.

The transaction is expected to complete during September 2014, and is conditional upon competition clearance from the Swedish Competition Authority.

Exertis says it has a strategy ‘to continue to expand its geographic footprint and offer its suppliers an even greater route-to-market and access to market leading services’.

CapTech Distribution AB is Sweden’s largest independent technology distribution business, and focuses on IT hardware and AV systems. It was established in 1996 and today it has a turnover of SEK1.5 billion (£130 million). It partners with several top tech vendors including Acer, Asus, BenQ, Dell, Microsoft, NEC and Samsung, and sells to more than 2,000 etail, retail and reseller customers.

Niall Ennis, Exertis group MD, said: "The acquisition of CapTech represents an excellent strategic fit and is another significant step forward for Exertis following the rebranding of the business last year."

Daniel Johnsson, CapTech MD, added: "We are very much looking forward to working with Exertis to further expand our service offering to customers and suppliers, and believe our partnership with Exertis will enable the next phase of growth for our business, including an expansion of the business in the wider Nordic/Scandinavian region."

Exertis previously said it wants to be the number one IT distributor in Europe, and that it wants to expand across Europe.

Last year, Gerry O’Keeffe, Exertis group MD of UK and Ireland, told PCR: "Exertis is focused on growing our European and international footprint in the next three to five years. There are opportunities in France to broaden the range of vendors we operate with, but we’re focused on acquisitions in other territories in Europe: there’s a number of those we’re looking at."
