Toshiba has announced an air-filled 5TB hard drive.
The MG04 series, available in 6Gbit/s SAS and SATA iterations, feature two, three, four and five-terabyte capacity options – the latter being the first air-cushioned 5TB drive from any vendor.
Other features include the use of five 1TB platters, sustained sequential streaming at 205MiB/s (for the 5TB drive, 175MiB/s for lower capacities), a persistent write cache and an instant erase option.
