Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH has introduced its updated Canvio Ready 2.5‑inch portable hard disk drive, featuring a redesigned enclosure with ribbed detailing for improved grip and a top cover made from 65% recycled material. The refresh maintains the line’s plug‑and‑play operation and familiar ease of use.
Available in capacities up to 4TB, the HDD offers straightforward storage for photos, documents and media libraries. It connects via a USB Type‑A to Micro‑B cable, supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 transfer speeds up to 5 Gbit/s, and remains backwards compatible with USB 2.0. The drive is USB‑powered and comes pre‑formatted for Microsoft Windows, with Mac support available following reformatting.
Toshiba continues to emphasise reliability, with ramp load technology helping protect the drive mechanism during transport and integrated shock sensors guarding against excessive shock events.
Larry Martinez‑Palomo, Vice President of the Storage Products Division at Toshiba Electronics Europe, said the updated design reflects ongoing product refinement, combining improved grip with recycled materials to support more environmentally conscious choices.
The new Canvio Ready will be available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities from Q4.
