Hasbro to distribute Angry Birds Star Wars II Telepod app toys to PC retail

The upcoming Angry Birds Star Wars II toys that can be placed on a tablet and used in the app will be distributed in the UK by Hasbro.

The Telepod toys – which offer PC retailers a new revenue stream – will launch on September 19th, the same day Angry Birds Star Wars II arrives on app stores.

Players can use the Telepod characters to teleport either the Rebel Birds or Imperial Pigs into the game. There will be more than 30 characters available.

“The Telepods gaming platform represents a remarkable new way for the mobile generation to play with Hasbro’s incredible portfolio of brands,” said John Frascotti, Chief Marketing Officer at Hasbro.

Jami Laes, Executive Vice President of Games at Rovio Entertainment, added: “Angry Birds Star Wars was a blockbuster hit for us and Lucasfilm with over 100 million downloads since its release. The Telepods platform from Hasbro provides a great way to bring a whole new dimension to the gameplay for kids and families."

Physical sets will also encourage kids to play with the toys without the app, too.

A £39.99 Star Destroyer will launch, with more than 20 pieces that can be stacked, plus a triple lightsaber launcher and six exclusive figures.

£19.99 vehicle packs, £12.99 telepods sets (with two figures and a lightsaber launcher), a £9.99 Jedi vs Sith multi-pack (with six figures) and £5.99 Telepods figure packs (each with two figures) will also be available.
