Signs Micro-P to reach resellers and is talking to up to six major retailers for Q3 launch

Packard Bell details channel push

Packard Bell has unveiled sweeping changes to the way that it works with the channel, including moving away from its exclusive retail deal with DSGi and the recruitment of Micro-P to build up its reseller base.

Speaking to PCR, UK country manager Sylvain Braem said that the vendor is in negotiation with national chains and expects to have products on shelves by the third quarter.

"We’re are currently talking to a number of retailers – between five and six – with plans to hit stores during Q3," he said.

Braem was coy on the names and types of retailer the company is in talks with, but said that they will match its key demographic of stylish, but price-conscious customers.

He revealed that the company had signed a deal with Micro P to reach smaller retailers and resellers. He also said that it is in talks with a broadline distributor – thought to be either Ingram Micro or Computer 2000.

"Micro-P was a natural choice because of its strong links with retail-focused resellers," Braem added. "We expect that by the end of the third quarter, our products should be available to the channel."
