Exertis picks up Dell and NEC awards; appoints new COO

It’s been a busy week for B2B retail and mobile distributor Exertis.

The firm has been crowned Solutions Provider of the Year by network and IT solutions provider NEC.

The award was revealed at the NEC Display Trends Forum held on Thursday, October 15th.

Commenting on the company’s victory, Exertis’ Visual Business and AV general manager, Ian Aitken, said: “Exertis is thrilled to receive the award for NEC Solutions Partner of the Year. This award is recognition of the effort and investment we have made to achieve our significant sales growth across both monitor and large format display product categories. It is a true reflection on the continuing commitment and hard work put in by the team here.”

Earlier this week, Dell awarded Exertis the Distributor of the Year award at the Dell Security Peak Performance UK event.

As well as being the only distributor to offer an end-to-end Dell solution, the Exertis offering is bolstered by free technical support and an extensive training programme on offer throughout Europe. Since becoming the first UK Dell SonicWALL Authorised Training Partner in 1999, the business has trained over 1,500 engineers.

Commenting on the win, Exertis VAD Solutions Sales Director, Jason Hill, said: “This is a great win for Exertis VAD and reward for our dedication to driving Dell SonicWALL solutions, not to mention a validation of our expertise in assisting our resellers in the UK and Ireland.”

Along with its new awards, Exertis has also announced its new Chief Operating Office, Kevin Paterson (pictured).

As part of a wide-ranging remit, he will head up the company’s logistics and warehousing operations, covering forward and reverse logistics.

In addition Paterson will take a leading role in the integration of consumer electronics distributor, Computers Unlimited, within the business following its acquisition by Exertis’ parent company DCC earlier in the year. He will be responsible for the new purpose-built 450,000 sq ft UK national distribution centre based in Burnley Bridge Business Park.

“This is an exciting time to be joining Exertis particularly in view of the current change programmes and opportunities they create, it fully plays to my strengths and passion around business change,” said Paterson.

“I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into the new challenges and opportunities that lie in store.”

Commenting on the appointment, UK and Ireland MD Gerry O’Keeffe, said: “Kevin will become the voice of the customer in all that we do, ensuring we are constantly expanding our service offering to our customers and delivering best in class customer service.”
