Steve Wilson at Norton explains more about the Norton Empower Reseller Program, its features and benefits and how partners can gain rewards when selling applicable Norton Empower-enabled products and services to their customers, remunerated though an attractive revenue share program.
Can you give us a brief outline of what the Norton Empower Reseller Program is, the key benefits and why it was set up?
The Norton Empower Reseller Program is designed to offer our existing network of Norton partners – as well as new partners – an even better way of working with the Norton brand to help further consumer Cyber Safety.
The key benefits include:
- Having a clear overview of revenue share and how much is forthcoming
- Quick access to the Empower Reseller Portal where partners can easily claim revenue share
- A streamlined way to place orders and download product keys for Norton subscriptions
- Providing a comprehensive overview to keep track of previous orders and active subscriptions
There will also be an opportunity to upgrade to Norton Empower Plus for partners in the UK. Those who exceed a specific threshold of new customer activations per annum will have access to an enhanced revenue share scheme and further support from Norton. The enhanced revenue share scheme will be an uplift of an additional 5%1.
How will Norton reward partners who help further consumer Cyber Safety?
Once enrolled, partners will be eligible for revenue share when their end users renew Norton subscriptions directly on the Norton eStore, for up to three successive renewal years, which will include cross-sells and upsells2. If the end user decides to switch and subscribe to a more comprehensive plan, then the partner that introduced that end user will receive the revenue share for the upgrade.
If the end user subscribes to an additional plan on the Norton eStore (cross-sell), partners will receive revenue share on the cross-sell and will be eligible for three years’ revenue share on the new sale as long as the new sale occurs during the initial three-year revenue share period. For example, if a customer buys Norton AntiVirus Plus from a partner and two years later purchases Norton Secure VPN via the Norton eStore, Norton will share revenue on the acquisition of Norton Secure VPN and for a further three years of renewals?
Why should end users turn to Norton for the cybersecurity needs?
With our trusted brands, products and services, we continue to evolve as emerging cyberthreats do. Norton is one of the most trusted brands in Cyber Safety4, offering a diverse range of products and services to fit the vast majority of customer digital safety needs. Consumers have a wide array of options, from the basic Norton AntiVirus Plus to Norton360 Standard, Norton 360 Deluxe, Norton 360 Advanced, Norton 360 for Gamers and Norton 360 Premium plans as well as Norton Identity Advisor Plus. The breadth of offerings as well as our dedication to further our impact through this program demonstrates the brand’s passion to help empower our partners’ customers and their families to feel safer in their everyday digital lives.
Can you tell us about the current state of the cybersecurity market and the most pressing concerns affecting the channel?
According to the Norton Cyber Safety Insights Report, nearly half of consumers in the UK (48%) have ever been a victim of cybercrime, with around three in 10 (29%) reporting they have experienced cybercrime in 20215. Cyber Safety is no longer just a challenge for a select group but rather a large problem that grows year-over-year. Today, consumers need to protect themselves from ever-evolving cyberthreats from traditional malware to sophisticated phishing threats that can result with consumers’ information being stolen and sold on the Dark Web – and everything in between.
In the channel, the biggest challenge we see is providing end users with the products and services they need to simply and effectively help protect consumers with this increasingly diverse range of cyberthreats. At Norton, we aim to provide our partners with products and services that evolve with the landscape to help overcome this challenge
How does the Norton Empower Reseller Program benefit consumers?
This program not only offers exciting benefits to our partners but helps to further our vision to protect and empower more people to live their digital lives safely. Norton Empower members in the UK have access to sell Norton AntiVirus Plus, Norton 360 Standard, Norton 360 Deluxe, Norton 360 Premium, Norton 360 for Gamers and the new Norton 360 Advanced and Norton Identity Advisor Plus – providing consumers with a wide access to these trusted services.
How have the needs of industry sectors such as gaming evolved over recent months and how is Norton responding to these requirements?
Norton has conducted recent research around gaming with its Consumer Insights Safety and Pulse Reports. These not only inform the public how they should be staying safer online but also how Norton can continue to adapt to help protect our consumers.
In November 2021, the Norton Consumer Insights Safety Report looked into the lengths that gamers would go to in order to gain an advantage. According to the findings, 29% of the gamers surveyed said they would hack into the gaming account of a random player to gain an advantage and on the flipside, if their gaming account was hacked 71% of gamers surveyed would be very upset or devastated if their personal information was stolen6.
Norton works to help address such concerns with its Norton 360 for Gaming, which includes:
- Dark Web Monitoring for gamer tags and personal information that may end up on the dark web
- Notification Optimisation for Windows PCs (excluding Windows in S mode, Windows running on ARM processor), which will notify the user if it detects they are under attack or their protection is at risk
- Full-Screen Detection Mode is device security for Windows PCs that detects when the user is using full-screen mode, and silences all but critical security alerts
Can you explain more about the Empower Reseller Portal and what is has to offer?
The portal is an easy-to-use offering that simplifies the process of managing all product keys, active subscriptions and previous orders in one place.
With the Portal, partners can:
- Place orders and download product keys for Norton subscriptions with just a few clicks7
- Keep track of all your orders, as well as active subscriptions, via a clear and comprehensive overview
- Renew your customers’ subscriptions
- Find out how much revenue share you’ve got coming
- Claim your revenue share easily through the Reseller Portal8
- Easy access to Marketing Assets
The process to assess revenue share is also very straightforward with 5 simple steps:
- Partners buy the Norton Empower-enabled product key (ESD) on the portal
- They then sell the product or service to their customer
- The customer then renews the subscription online on the Norton eStore
- This will qualify for revenue share at up to 25%9, which will share in partners’ revenue share account
- Partners can keep track of their revenue share via the Norton Empower Reseller Portal10
Can you tell us more about how once partners enroll in the Norton Empower Reseller Program, they are eligible for revenue share when their end user renews their Norton subscriptions directly on the Norton eStore?
Helping keep people protected is important for personal Cyber Safety. Therefore, renewals are a central part of what we and our resellers do.
Once you enroll in the Norton Empower Reseller Program, you’ll be eligible for revenue share when your end user renews its Norton subscription directly on the Norton eStore, for up to three successive renewal years11. This includes cross-sells and upsells12.
If the end user decides to switch and subscribe to a more robust plan, Norton will reward the partner that introduced that end user with a revenue share for the upgrade. For example, a customer purchases Norton AntiVirus Plus from a reseller. Six months later they upgrade to a more robust plan via the Norton eStore. For the following three renewal years partner will qualify for revenue share on any successive renewals through the eStore13.
How is Norton looking to evolve its cyber security offering?
Norton is always assessing how best to meet the cybersecurity needs of existing and new customers. Most recently in March 2022, the Norton brand introduced Norton Identity Advisor Plus in the UK, which leverages the company’s consumer identity protection expertise to help victims of identity theft resolve their issues.
Norton Identity Advisor Plus includes three key features:
Social Media Monitoring: Monitors your account on popular social media sites and notifies you if we think your account may be compromised or if we find potentially risky links14.
Dark Web Monitoring: Goes beyond easily accessible sites and marketplaces, scanning private forums, social webs, deep web and dark web to search for the user’s personal information15.
Identity Restoration Specialists: An Identity Restoration Specialist is assigned to a case of identity theft from start-to-finish to guide the victim through the restoration process to help them resolve their identity theft issue.
Innovation is at the heart of Norton DNA – our Norton Labs team of experts continuously monitors the cyberthreat landscape and works together with our developers to adapt our product and service offerings based on the latest customer needs.
