Distributor Tech Data has formed a new team to focus on supporting sales and providing specialist services to independent webstores and retailers.
The move is part of a continuing programme of investment designed to ensure all retailers can take advantage of the full range of resources that Tech Data makes available to its partners. As well as exceptional choice and availability and competitive pricing on leading, tier-one brands, these include advanced stock management, direct and specialist shipment services, extensive credit, and access to its new Tech-as-a-Service proposition for consumers, and the Tech Data Renew trade-in service.
The team will sit within Tech Data’s retail division. A dedicated sales and service delivery team is are already in-place and starting to contact independent retail and webstore customers. An Independent Retail Channel Manager is also being recruited to head-up this team, with an announcement expected shortly.
“In setting up this new team, Tech Data is making a definitive commitment to deliver the highest standards of support to independent webstores and retailers,” said Ross Turner, general manager – Retail, UK at Tech Data.
“The team provides a direct touch-point for these partners as well as access to the full spectrum of Tech Data services and capabilities. That means unrivalled choice of top brands, through to the specialist services we can provide to meet the specific needs of both proximity and nationwide retailers.”
The Independent Retail team will be looking to work with more consumer-focused partners, he emphasised. “We already work with many retail chains and webstores that are mainly B2B focused, and we can offer just as much value and service to consumer-facing businesses. If retailers want to make sure they take full advantage of current trends we’d urge them to talk to us and find out what we have to offer. We have an amazing vendor line-up and a comprehensive set of services, which they can take advantage of to maximise their sales and profits.”
Independents will also be offered exclusive promotions, specially-curated ranges, special offers on best-in-class technologies and solutions, and marketing support to drive messaging and achieve incremental business. Key vendors supporting the initiative include HPI, Microsoft, Asus, AOC, Philips, and Targus.
In addition to these and other leading PC, notebook, mobile and smart home brands, Tech Data can offer retailers and webstores an unrivalled choice of add-ons and accessories, innovative credit offerings – including the popular Credit Elevator programme – and tailored stock management and delivery.
Partners will also be able to take advantage of Tech Data’s recently-launched consumer-focused Tech-as-a-Service proposition. This allows retailers and webstores to offer individual products or a combination of hardware, software, and add-on services on an all-in-one subscription basis. Since its launch two years ago, Tech-as-a-Service has grown to become an extremely popular option both with public sector and commercial customers who want to invest in the latest technology now, but spread the cost over a longer period, with full investment protection.
In addition, retailers and webstores can make use of the Tech Data Renew service to trade-in their old products, reducing the acquisition cost of new equipment and providing a simple and convenient way for them to dispose of used kit in an ethical and environmentally-friendly way. All traded-in devices are disposed of or recycled safely and securely, and in accordance with industry standards.
