Distributor Exertis has promoted Phil Brown to the role of sales and commercial director for IT.
Brown will lead the commercial business units and IT reseller base for B2B and VAD solutions.
In a wide-ranging remit and with immediate effect, he will be supporting the future growth and expansion of the company’s partners by aligning the sales and commercial units more closely to deliver a streamlined approach for the customer.
The move sees Borwn promoted from B2B sales director, a remit which involved responsibility for the core IT and specialist sales teams, reseller partners and B2B vendors.
Before this, he was commercial and marketing director at Exertis, driving vendor strategy and relationships while identifying investment opportunities to deliver the expected growth. Prior to Exertis, Brown undertook sales and general management roles at ASUS, Samsung Electronics and Computer 2000.
“This is a fantastic opportunity which builds on my almost five years with Exertis,” said Brown.
“This position will enable me to help develop the Exertis proposition and ensure that all our partners have access to a wealth of great technologies, solutions and services we offer. I can’t wait to get started.”

Exertis recently announced that is it has realigned the structure of its networking team ahead of the market trends it expects to unfold in 2016.
Like the company’s Server and Storage teams, the Networking team now also falls under the company’s expanded Enterprise proposition.
As well as this, the firm recently announced the departure of Grahame Smee, managing director of Exertis VAD Solutions.
