"The market is crying out for a user-friendly, robust, table-top touchscreen," says Midwich

Astec and 3M partner for multi-touch SenseTable

Astec Technology has teamed up with 3M to bring an desktop interactive touchtable solution to a range of vertical markets.

Being showcased at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) next month, the SenseTable pairs the latest 3M models with software and a table design.

Available from Midwich, the SenseTable solution uses 3M’s patented progressive capacitive (PCAP) multi-touch screen technology that is unaffected by ambient light – making it suitable for most applications with features such as 60 simultaneous touches and bezel-free design up to 46 inches.

For OEM designers who want to incorporate 3M Multi-Touch PCAP technology into their own systems, 3M has also introduced the 3M Multi-Touch System PCT2420PX, comprising both a sensor and controller and able to support displays from 32 to 46 inches.

The SenseTable is designed for vertical market industries and environments including retail, automotive, education and banking. SenseTable is available in a range of display sizes and furniture types including workstations and coffee tables.

Astec Technology’s software products can be added to any SenseTable. Due for release in late February is new presentation software allowing documents, images, video, designs and drawings to be shared, scaled and moved around the table. Future updates could see dedicated software for education, gaming and home entertainment, restaurants and art launch.

The range will be on display at ISE on the 3M stand – booth 8-H280.

Matthew Bates, Commercial Director for Astec Technology, said: “With in excess of 200 Midwich clients attending the event, we expect to achieve a high volume of enquiries and sales and therefore are offering interested parties a full working demonstration of the hardware and software supported by an exclusive show offer of 20 per cent off all orders placed with Midwich by March 31st.”

Lee Harris, Divisional Manager at Midwich, added: “Initial signs are that the market is crying out for a user-friendly, robust, table-top touchscreen and we look forward to showcasing the product at ISE and the exciting market opportunities that the SenseTable solution provides.”
