The PlayStation 4 is officially the UK’s fastest-selling games console – but how did PC game sales fare last week?
It eclipsed week-one sales of the PS3 and the recently launched Xbox One, and breaks the eight-year record help by the original PSP, games industry body UKIE/GfK Chart-Track said in a statement.
In the All Format chart, Call of Duty: Ghosts returned to number one, ahead of FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4 in second and third place respectively.
Meanwhile, Football Manager 2014 managed to hold on to its top spot in the UK PC boxed game chart for the fifth consecutive week.
"It looks like Black Friday retailer promotions have been working their magic on certain titles with ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ also back in the Top 10, up from No16 to No10," added UKIE in a statement.
"[The PS4 launch] was incredible. We opened more than 300 GAME [stores] around the country and the response from gamers was fantastic," added Ian Chambers, Chief Digital Officer at GAME.
"The buzz for PlayStation 4 has been huge – visitor numbers to our website hit almost two million last week and we’ve seen an explosion of social media activity too. PlayStation 4 has been years in the making and its arrival marks a real highlight in this epic season of gaming.
"Looking at the initial response it’s clear that sales will easily top the PlayStation 3 launch sales and there is still huge demand which we expect to continue into 2014 and beyond."
