CES 2009: Electronics giant to showcase its new Cell video processor

Toshiba unveils the future of TV

Consumer electronics vendor Toshiba is to reveal its new Cell TV, which it claims is the future of television.

Based around the new Cell processor, Cell TV is not strictly a television but a set top box with a 55-inch LED panel for the screen. It boasts the ability to record six HD signals at once and features the capacity for internet interaction.

Cell TV is a joint project with Toshiba, Sony and IBM and although marketing will begin in 2009, prices and initial markets are as yet unannounced.
