Panasonic unveils Toughbook G3

Panasonic has introduced the Toughbook G3, a new rugged tablet designed to support critical workflows for mobile teams across defence, emergency services, utilities, logistics and other field‑based sectors. The device delivers a significant update to the Toughbook line, with a redesigned battery system, enhanced modularity and next‑generation AI capability.

The G3’s new battery structure increases runtime by 39 per cent, with users able to select from three battery options offering 8.5, 17 or 24 hours per charge. A 99Wh pack is available for long shifts and AI‑driven applications, and an optional bridge battery enables hot‑swap functionality without powering down.

Weighing less than previous models and built around Panasonic’s ‘Engineered for Motion’ design approach, the 10.1‑inch G3 is intended for use in vehicles, confined spaces and frontline environments. Expansion modules for smart cards, fingerprint readers, and barcode scanning let teams tailor the device to specific roles, while a quick‑release SSD supports secure field operations. Five programmable buttons offer up to 10 shortcuts, and the touchscreen works with gloves or a pen.

Powered by the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 platform with dual‑channel RAM, the G3 supports Copilot+ features for on‑device AI processing and is certified for Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Device Edge. Connectivity includes Wi‑Fi 7 and optional 4G or 5G, with a dedicated LAN port for stable wired access.

The device is built to IP66 standards, tested to MIL‑STD 810H, withstands 180cm drops and operates between -29°C and 63°C. As a Windows 11 Secured‑core PC, it includes identity‑first protection and can be managed with Toughbook Guard. Most accessories from earlier Toughbook models remain compatible.

“The G3 is designed to move at the pace of the field worker. It combines true mobility, intuitive ergonomics and the required durability that changes what’s possible in a shift,” said Dirk Weigelt, Senior Product and Solutions Manager at Panasonic Toughbook.
