Expanded capabilities for Canon imagePRESS V1000

Canon has introduced hardware and firmware enhancements to its imagePRESS V1000 toner-based production printer, aimed at improving media handling, user interface functionality, and long-sheet compatibility. The updates follow more than 700 installations of the V1000 across EMEA.

Key additions include:

  • Vacuum-fed paper deck: Previously available only on the imagePRESS V1350, this feature improves paper feeding reliability for challenging media types while maintaining a compact footprint.
  • Plockmatic LCT XL compatibility: The V1000 now supports long-sheet media up to 1,300mm and weights up to 400gsm, enabling automated production of applications such as landscape booklets, trifold brochures, and gate-fold formats.
  • Updated PRISMAsync interface: A new 533mm (21-inch) operating panel improves visibility and usability, allowing operators to monitor media and workflow from a single screen.
  • Cloud-based e-maintenance: Remote diagnostics and support features continue to be available, particularly benefiting customers in remote or distributed environments.

The imagePRESS V1000 has also received certification for ‘good’ deinkability from INGEDE, the highest rating awarded by the association, confirming the recyclability of its printed output. Additionally, the press meets FOGRA 51 standards for colour quality without requiring additional colour stations.

Canon reports continued use of the V1000 in high-volume environments, including UWV in the Netherlands, which operates five units to produce approximately 2.5 million A4 pages monthly.

The new imagePRESS V1000 is available immediately through Canon’s direct sales teams and accredited channel partners. Customers can choose between PRISMAsync and Fiery controllers, both updated for improved usability.
