Lenovo appoints Alberto Spinelli as Head of EMEA Marketing and Communications

Lenovo has named Alberto Spinelli as its new executive director of marketing and communications for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Starting the role in January 1st 2020, Spinelli will bring with him a wealth of experience from the hardware and digital services industries – both as an entrepreneur establishing start-up businesses and as a company executive, pioneering the development and execution of digital ecosystems.

Reporting directly to Francois Bornibus, SVP and president of EMEA, Spinelli, who will be based in Milan, will champion Lenovo’s digital transformation, developing a visionary, world-class marketing function grounded in data, analytics and insights to drive greater engagement between Lenovo and its customers and cementing Lenovo’s commitment to delivering smarter technology for all.

On his appointment, Spinelli said: “Lenovo has been an inspiration to me with its instinctive approach to developing innovative and intuitive products. It has empowered the lives of tens of millions of its customers across the world in their homes, their workplaces and when on the go.

“Our attention must now be in bringing these technological innovations together with a truly customer led approach, learning from and acting upon customer insights to build engagement, ultimately allowing our customers do more with their products. Building a digitally focused, modern marketing and communications organisation will help us to deliver this, driving growth both now and long into the future. I’m thrilled to be joining Lenovo at this critical time.”

Spinelli joins Lenovo from Fing, a start-up company offering a B2C marketplace of hardware and professional services for smart home where he served as CEO. Before Fing he held the position of managing director of Canon’s digital services business. Spinelli has led multiple start-ups, in addition to positions within multinational corporations such as Intel and Acer across his professional career.
