Tech Data strengthens wearable range with Acer Liquid Leap, partners with Trackimo

Tech Data has revealed that the Acer Liquid Leap range will now be available among its collection of wearable devices.

The Leap boasts a touch-controlled user interface, while its waterproof material allows users to wear it in all weather conditions.

The device tracks the wearer’s daily activities and allows users to receive email and SMS alerts, as well as control their phone and music.

Additionally, the Leap boasts a week’s battery life and is available in a range of colours, including green, pink, orange and black.

Mark Glasspool, director of consumer product marketing at Tech Data, said: “The Liquid Leap range is really exciting, combining a great set of features with stylish looks and the strength of the Acer brand.

“They are competitively priced in a market that is growing fast and we see this is an opportunity to bring new customers into the wearables market. As such, we’ll be looking to develop breadth and push them into the SMB space too.”

Update: The distrbutor has also announced its new partnership with GPS tracking device vendor Trackimo.

The agreement will see Tech Data’s reseller partners gain access to Trackimo’s range of devices, including the Trackimo GPS tracker, which features a SIM card.

Stephen Nolan, senior VP for Tech Data Mobile, added: “Trackimo’s solutions are a great example of how mobile technology is revolutionising the way we live our lives, offering customers an affordable, compact and reliable location tracking device with a variety of potential uses.

“We are very happy to support Trackimo in introducing their solution to the market.”

In other news, Tech Data’s enterprise arm Azlan has opened up more opportunities for its partners to make solutions from mobile security provider Good Technology.

Azlan has also partnered with Ricoh, who has combined enterprise mobility management (EMM) suites from Good Technology with its own managed print services.

Alistair Nield, channel manager for mobility solutions at Azlan UK, said: “This successful partnership shows that Azlan has the capability and desire to support VARs and integrators in building unique value propositions around leading enterprise mobility management software from Good Technology.”
