Publisher Bethesda has kicked off video game trade show E3 2015 in Los Angeles with five big announcements, including a release date for the new Doom game.
1. Doom is out spring 2016 on PC
Doom 4 – now simply known as Doom – was shown off with a full gameplay trailer at Bethesda’s E3 conference (see above).
The video paints Doom in all its gory glory, with the game promising to be even more bloodier and brutal than before. Developer id Software also showed off a new feature named Doom SnapMap, allowing users to create their own maps and gameplay modes.
Doom will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC in spring 2015.
2. Fallout 4 will let players create their own buildings
A couple of new videos have showcased the gameplay in Fallout 4, the sequel to Fallout 3, which is due in November on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
The above gameplay video shows how players can create their own custom buildings.
A free-to-play Fallout game, Fallout Shelter, was also revealed.
3. Dishonored 2 announced
Bethesda has revealed Dishonored 2 – the sequel to popular first-person assassin game Dishonored.
Players can choose between choose two lead characters this time around – Corvo Attano from the original and female lead character Emily Kaldwin. The game will also arrive in spring 2016 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
4. The Elder Scrolls Legends is a rival Hearthstone game
Colossal RPG franchise The Elder Scrolls (containing games such as Skyrim, Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls Online) is getting a free-to-play virtual card game, putting it head to head with Blizzard’s hugely popular Hearthstone PC and mobile game.
The news comes as Elder Scrolls Online reached the top of the UK games sales charts last week, which sold over 100,000 unit sales as it launched on consoles (it first came out on PC last year).
5. Publisher unveils Bethesda.net
Bethesda has announced online game portal Bethesda.net, similar to Ubisoft’s Uplay and Blizzard’s Battle.net.
The network will give players access to new in-game features and will no doubt allow gamers to keep their Bethesda games all in one place.
