Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will arrive this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages.
It is thought that it has chosen this time of the year to target the back-to-school PC buyers.
It has also been revealed that new software is being created by Microsoft that will convert Android smartphones into a Windows 10 device.
Xiaomi will be the first partner of the program due to the large amount of feedback the Chinese vendor gets from its customers.
The ROM is based on Windows, and operates in a similar way to software from Cyanogen as well as other custom ROMs made by the likes of Tencent nd Baidu in China.
It is designed to move beyond Microsoft’s Android app to offer a native Windows experience for users.
A report on TechCrunch stated: “Neither Microsoft nor Xiaomi provided specific details of the Windows 10 software being trialled, but TechCrunch understands from sources that it effectively overrides Android, turning the Xiaomi phone into a Windows 10 device complete with Microsoft services.”
