Images of the prototype for Amazon’s first smartphone have made their way onto the internet.
Leaked by BGR, the photos show the handset in a protective shell, which the publication says is intended to prevent people without authorisation from seeing the physical design of the phone.
BGR reports that this is one of at least two handsets that Amazon is currently working on, which is in keeping with a number of rumours suggesting that there will be a flagship model and a budget model.
Spec rumours for the flagship device include 2GB of RAM, a heavily customised version of Android, 4.7-inch display, 12MP front camera and 13MP rear camera.
It is also expected to feature a 3D user interface with eye tracking technology, which uses numerous camera placed on each side of the device to track movements, giving the illusion that the screen is 3D.
WSJ reports that the device will be unveiled in June and will start shipping in September.
