Vendors look towards creating a new market segment

12-inch Apple and Samsung tablets reportedly in development

Apple and Samsung are both allegedly planning to release tablets with 12-inch or larger displays.

Sources from the upstream supply chain told DigiTimes that the vendors are attempting to create a new market segment in a bid to move away from competition from small-size devices.

The sources say that Samsung is attempting to compete with the notebook industry with a range of bigger sized tablets.

Apple is expected to release a number of new devices on September 10th, and while it is unlikely that we’ll see a 12-inch+ iPad next month, maybe 2014 will be the year the firm looks towards even bigger displays for its mobile devices.
