Battlefield 4 has been revealed by EA with a lengthy gameplay video, which details the game's single-player mode

EA reveals Battlefield 4 with 17-minute trailer; set for autumn release

Battlefield 4 will land on PCs this autumn following EA’s reveal of the upcoming shooter within a 17-minute gameplay trailer.

The newest addition to the highly-acclaimed Battlefield franchise was revealed simultaneously at this years GDC and at a special event in Stockholm, Sweden – home of the series’ developer DICE.

EA certainly made an impression with the title, as a 17-minute gameplay trailer showcased what gamers can look forward to within the game’s single-player mode.

Whilst currently listed for an autumn release on PC and current-gen consoles, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, EA detailed the game would be powered by DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine. That, along with the title’s release schedule would indicate it will indeed be next-gen.

"We are so humbled and proud to debut Battlefield 4 on a global stage with simultaneous events in San Francisco and Stockholm," said EA executive Patrick Soderlund.

"To be this early in development, and to already be so polished is a huge achievement for the DICE team and reflection of their passion and commitment to driving the franchise forward. Today’s demo was just the beginning – we have so much more in store."

Players can pre-order Battlefield 4 now, which will entitle them for a Premium expansion pack. Meanwhile, PC gamers can order the Digital Deluxe edition currently on Origin, which includes the title and additional in-game items.

Those who pre-order will also be granted access to Battlefield 4’s multiplayer beta once it launches.
