Napster to ship free with Dell PCs

With Spotify becoming harder to sign up to, Napster is swooping in boost the popularity of its music download and streaming service by shipping it free with certain Dell PCs.

Select Dell systems in the US, UK and Germany will come with a free year’s subscription to Napster Unlimited, worth £60, which includes 60 MP3 downloads and access to the on-demand music listening service.

“People want the ability to personalise their PCs, and music is a great way for them to do that," said Rachna Bhasin, general manager of strategic partnerships for Dell’s consumer division. “Dell is now making it easier than ever for customers to enjoy their favourite music by downloading MP3s of their choice, as well as discover new music with streaming from Napster’s vast music collection.”

Some Dell Studio and Inspiron models will come with a Napster icon on the desktop, which enables users to redeem their one-year subscription.
