The TED Global (Technology, Entertainment and Design) conference, which has seen great success in the United States, has opened in Cambridge today.
This years event will cover subjects like neuroscience, astrophysics and economics and some of the speakers include a wireless technician, and underworld investigator, an aphorist, a high-altitude archaeologist and a cyber-lawyer.
Although audience members must pay a fee and undergo rigorous testing – including essay questions – to attend the event, videos of the presentations can be viewed for free online. 400 have been posted on the internet so far and have garnered 15 million views.
“It is about all the hidden, invisible, not yet discovered or fully explored parts of our lives, society and the world,” said TED’s European director, Bruno Giussani.
