The CEO of Citrix has predicted that virtualisation will drive a revolution in the way people interact with IT.
Speaking at the company’s iForum conference on Tuesday, Mark Templeton claimed that the ‘consumerisation’ of information technology was pushing firms away from products based around distributed computing towards on demand services, reports Microscope.
The software firm used the event to launch several new products, including Dazzle – an iTunes-like application aimed at the IT services sector.
Templeton said that a move to virtualisation made sense because it would give users of technology a much simpler and cost effective experience.
He predicted that the clash of the two business models would result in "an epic battle" between "the momentum of consumerisation" and the "inertia of dead ideas".
