USA: Retailer outlines plans to make service and solutions central to customers' shopping experience

Best Buy to revamp US stores

Best Buy has announced that it will be radically altering the layout of its US stores.

According to consumer electronic news site Twice, the move is part of the company’s shift to present itself as an "enabler of connected digital solutions". Central to the change will be the repositioning of its Geek Squad desks to the centre of the store, surrounded by examples of connected solutions.

It is also expected that the retailer will use the opportunity to roll out some of its new product areas, including musical instruments and used DVDs.

The news follows recent comments from international CEO Bob Willett about the company’s changing focus. "We have become a service business that has retail stores, not a retailer that provides service."
