Dell’s channel strategy has become a lot clearer this week after a flurry of news highlighted
Earlier this week, Dell announced that it had made $9 billion in revenue from the channel, and while that is less than HP, it is a lot for a company, which relies mainly on the direct sales model for the majority of its revenue and only has a few channel outlets.
At the Gartner event, Michael Dell also spoke about the company’s partner program: "It might be a bit of a surprise to you folks, and it probably will be because we haven’t talked about it much, but we actually did a little work recently to go around the company to try to determine how big the channel and partner business is at Dell," he said.
"And it turns out it’s about $9 billion. That’s a pretty sizeable business already. And, as you’ve probably seen, we’ve taken some steps to grow that. We think there are opportunities to grow that."
The comments come after Dell announced a partnership with US musical instrument specialist, Guitar Center.
