Nielsen/NetRatings claims both Google and Yahoo have increased their grip on the market

Microsoft search loses market share

After a few months in which in successfully boosted its market share of the net search sector, Microsoft has once again seen its slice of the pie decrease, with rivals such as Google and Yahoo cutting into its user numbers.

ZDNet reports that Microsoft currently claims around nine per cent of the search market, down from just over ten per cent in March. Google, on the other hand saw its market share jump from 53.7 per cent to 55.2 per cent, whilst Yahoo saw a 0.1 per cent rise to 21.9 per cent.

AOL remains in fourth place with a 5.4 per cent share, down a little on its previous figure.
