Pirates release fully functioning rip of Microsoft’s new OS

Vista hacked

The Inquirer reports that a pirate group called NoPE has begun distributing what it believed to be the first fully functional pirate copy of Microsoft’s new operating system, Vista.

Previous hacks have relied on techniques such as holding off the automatic product activation included with the software to allow the OS to run. However, this latest hack seems to be activated from the off and works with Microsoft’s updates.

It remains to be seen if the software giant is able to address this latest setback via its ongoing security updates.

PC Retail yesterday reported that Vista has sold over 40 million copies since its release at the end of January.
