Dell taken to court

Dell has been sued by New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo over consumer complaints made in the city.

It is claimed that Dell and its financial services unit have been disingenuous when selling to customers in the New York area, specifically alleging that erroneous promises of financing terms and interest rates were made, reported the Wall Street Journal.

If the Attorney General is successful in the case, an injunction will be taken out against Dell’s practices, and an unspecified amount of damages will be paid to affected customers.

Bob Pearson, a Dell spokesperson, denys the charges and said that the firm will defend itself and is confident that its practices will be found to be legitimate.

"Our customers are our top priority at Dell," Pearson said. "While even one dissatisfied customer is too many, the allegations in the AG’s filing are based upon a small fraction of Dell’s consumer transactions in New York," he said.
