The deal will create a pan-European distribution operation called Brightstar Europe, which will be tasked with tapping into the evolving mobile and wireless device markets in the region.
Tech Data and Brightstar will own 50 per cent of the new company each, which will be headquartered in the UK and have access to ten logistics centres and 16 sales offices across Europe. It is expected that the company will begin trading in March pending regulatory approvals. Further details of the arrangement will be finalised in the coming weeks. This could mark a greater emphasis on Computer 2000’s commitment to wireless products in the UK.
