UK Mac-Dealer Association brings Brigantia to magic mark 1,000 member target on track, RPC deal secured

Indie trade group tops 500 members

by Scott Bicheno

The Brigantia group has
celebrated achieving 500 members by
announcing a raft of new vendors and
service providers.

The 500 mark was reached with the
joining, as an associate member, of
the UK Mac-Dealer Association.

?I see additional benefits for
existing Brigantia members who serve
the Apple channel,? said Brigantia?s
Chris Speight. ?I see the relationship
with the Mac-Dealer Association being
similar to that already in place and
working successfully with the PC
Association.?

One of the key new services being
offered by Brigantia to its members is
its on-site UK reseller training
programme, being run by Retail
Profiling Consultants (RPC). As part of
its working partnership with the
Brigantia Group, RPC aims to increase
the awareness and knowledge of
vendor?s products, services and
promotions within the Brigantia
Reseller membership.

?Independent retailers historically
have not benefited from the on-site
access to key vendors that the major
multiples enjoy and have consequently
been operating at a disadvantage,?
said RPC business development
manager Heidi Varley. ?This
programme will bring the
vendor/reseller relationship much
closer, enabling the independents to
compete with stronger product
knowledge and promotional
opportunities for simply the cost of
their time.? Vendors currently on
board include APC, Bullguard and
Western Digital.

And Brigantia certainly doesn?t
seem to be resting on its laurels. A
recently launched recruitment
campaign has been producing
between 25 and 30 suitable new
members each month. ?We expect to
achieve our membership target of
1,000 members during the current
financial year,? announced Brigantia
MD Iain Shaw (pictured). ?Discussions are ongoing
with a number of industry,
trade, professional and government
organisations about a working
relationship whereby their members
and subscribers gain access to
Brigantia Group membership.?

The next Brigantia members road
show is being held at the BT Central
Auditorium in St. Paul?s, London on
June 22nd, where it will be formally
announcing the launch of a Brigantia
Group own brand, supported amongst
others by AMD.
