Tech Data appoints new tech and services director

Tech Data’s enterprise arm Azlan has recently appointed Phil King as the company’s new technology and services director.

In the newly-created position, King will be a part of Azlan’s senior management team and will help to drive the distributor’s solutions and services focus.

Within the post, King will also be responsible for the unique Business Solutions Centre (BSC) at Azlan’s Heathrow location.

He brings more than 15 years of business development experience in value-added distribution and vendor and reseller business to the role.

In addition, King has previously worked closely with data centre and systems integration vendors, including Cisco, EMC and VMware.

During his career, King also spent five years as a sales manager for distributor ETC Distribution, King also worked at Veeam Software, distributor CCD and reseller Esteem Systems.

King said: “The chance to become closely involved in a forward-thinking value distribution business that is right at the front and centre of the evolution of the channel was too good an opportunity to miss.

“Azlan leads the way in supporting MSPs in the UK and is at the forefront of enabling VARs to define and develop new value propositions, and to deliver the cloud services and hybrid infrastructures that meet the needs of today’s enterprise organisations.”

In other news, Tech Data has also bolstered its printer portfolio with the addition of Dell printers.

The distributor will be offering the vendor’s full range of printers in the UK and Ireland for resellers.

The full Dell portfolio will include the likes of the A4 C2665dnf smart multifunction colour laser and the A3 7130cdn model, which will all be available from the distributor with immediate effect.

Mark Glasspool, director of product marketing at Tech Data, added: “Dell is a really strong brand name in both the business market and it has an excellent line-up of devices for every conceivable use in the office.

“We see considerable potential to grow sales amongst buyers of Dell PCs and servers and the wider market too. Dell’s own informal research shows that most customers who buy Dell PC or server systems don‘t purchase Dell printers, so there is a significant opportunity to drive that ratio upwards.“
