PC, smartphone, laptop and tablet sales all grew during Lenovo’s last quarter

Lenovo now selling more smartphones than PCs

Although its latest figures indicate Lenovo is still the market leader for PCs, the firm is now selling more smartphone than computers.

The Chinese manufacturer’s smartphones surged 39 per cent year-over-year in the fiscal quarter ending June, with sales reaching 15.8 million.

In comparison, Lenovo sold 14.5 million PCs over the same period.

Lenovo reported that in the global PC market, it took close to 20 per cent.

Its tablet shipments also grew by an impressive 67 per cent over the past year to 2.3 million.

Laptop sales for the firm were also on the rise, up 12 per cent during that period.

In the earnings release statement, Lenovo Chairman Yuanqing said: "This has been a quarter of milestones for Lenovo – record PC share, a number three ranking in worldwide tablets for the first time and an even stronger number four global smartphone position."
