The Government has launched HQ-UK – an initiative designed to convince US tech firms to set up their global hub in the UK.
Prime Minister David Cameron’s Digital Advisor Joanna Shields outlined the plans – a collaboration between Tech City UK, the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills, UKTI and the Department of Culture, Media & Sport, reports Real Business.
Shields said: “On behalf of her majesty’s government, I am pleased to launch HQ-UK – a new initiative which demonstrates exactly why tech companies should choose the UK as their international HQ and operational base when they expand from the US.
“Nowhere beats the UK as an international hub for tech companies who are looking to thrive, innovate and grow. As someone who has spent 25 years operating on both sides of the Atlantic, I have no hesitation in saying that the UK is now the best place to build a global business."
HQ-UK cited several reasons for US tech firms to move, including the UK having the largest e-commerce market in Europe, ‘tax incentives’, a ‘highly skilled workforce’, superfast broadband, and ‘interesting places to live and work’.
The Government has also launched an HQ-UK website, infographic, prospectus and video (see below).
