LG and Samsung have shown off television sets that can curve at the touch of a button.
Following several announcements of curved screens, Samsung revealed its 85-inch prototype unit, which can transform from a flat 4K LCD screen into a curved display via remote control.
The screen is manipulated with tiny mechanical servos, which flexes both the display and its plastic frame. Samsung added that the bendy screen is currently a concept only.
LG also revealed a protean TV at the show: a 77-inch OLED display which, like Samsung’s model, can be adjusted using the remote control to tailor the viewing experience.
"LG’s flexible OLED TV is a product that has to be seen to be believed because it defies description," said Hyun-hoi Ha, CEO of LG’s Home Entertainment Company in a statement.
"What curved is to flat, flexible is to curved. LG continues to lead the evolution of televisions into the next generation."
Both firms had been rumoured to be planning to show off the technology at the show last month.
