Kodak Alaris debuts S5000 scanners and Capture Pro 7.0

Kodak Alaris has expanded its document capture portfolio with the launch of the new Kodak S5000 Series Scanners and an updated version of Kodak Capture Pro Software. Designed for high-precision, high-volume environments, the new solutions aim to simplify information capture and deliver “unmatched versatility, speed and image quality,” according to the company.

Replacing the Kodak i5000 Series, the S5000 Series builds on Kodak Alaris’ long-standing leadership in the production scanner segment, where the firm reports an average market share of 85% over the past decade. The new range includes the S5160, S5180 and S5210 models, all of which support imaging standards such as the US Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) “out of the box,” with a simplified enablement process.

Channel partners are likely to find demand among enterprise and public sector customers seeking scalable and reliable data capture solutions. The scanners feature Dynamic Flow Technology with 32 CPU cores, delivering throughput of up to 1,260 images per minute and enabling ‘Scan-Once, Output-Many’ via Tri-Stream capabilities. Perfect Page ensures high-quality output, while Intelligent Document Protection “listens” for potential jams, and metal detection safeguards physical assets.

For more advanced scanning needs, the S5210 includes Image Addressing, allowing users to assign unique identifiers to batch-scanned documents. All models feature a 9.3-inch control panel and a 7.5-inch touchscreen for intuitive operation.

The S5000 Series is optimised to work with Capture Pro Software v7.0, which introduces a modernised interface and true 64-bit processing. A new Continuous Cropping Mode allows users to scan documents of unlimited length in sections, which can be reassembled to create an output ‘better than the original’ when paired with Capture Pro.
