Exertis has initiated a consultation period to consider a proposal to close its warehouse and distribution facility in Raunds next year, moving all its stock and warehousing activity to its Burnley Bridge Warehouse.
No final decisions have been made on the proposal, and Exertis will use the consultation period to discuss viable alternatives to potential redundancies.
In recent years Exertis has made significant investments in its operational capability, ensuring it continues to provide an industry-leading service and proposition for its customers. These investments have included the creation of a Pick Tower at its Burnley Bridge warehouse, giving it the capability to increase pick efficiency and, importantly, satisfy the market requirement for order consolidation and kit-to-order.
The significant benefits of this investment, along with enhancements in supply chain planning, mean Exertis believes it will be able to warehouse and distribute all its stock at one location from FY25. This will also enable it to be more efficient and operate in a more cost-effective way for its customers, while maintaining industry-leading performance levels.
As a result of the proposed changes, all roles based at the Raunds site are at risk of redundancy. Exertis will now enter a period of collective and individual consultation with impacted colleagues before any final decisions are made regarding the proposal.
All Raunds colleagues will be given a support pack immediately, detailing the support available as the consultation proceeds. If the proposals go ahead, the business will offer impacted colleagues the opportunity to relocate if they can and wish to do so, as well as announcing a retention bonus for affected staff. Exertis will also provide a series of in-house courses on job applications, CV writing and interview skills to help colleagues, should they be affected by redundancy, to find work as seamlessly as possible.
Exertis will work closely with the employee representatives to find alternative options to redundancy and will give all employees as much information and support as possible during the process.
