GIGABYTE AORUS 15G and 17G gaming laptops with mechanical keyboards now available in UK

GIGABYTE has announced the UK stock availability for the AORUS 15G and AORUS 17G – portable, professional-grade gaming laptops with a mechanical keyboard.

The newest AORUS series has been designed based on the needs of professional esports gamers for a high-performance gaming laptop with a mechanical keyboard that is also truly portable. Weighing just 2.2kg and at only 2.5cm thin, the AORUS 15G is half the weight and thickness of other mechanical keyboard laptops.

“Current mechanical keyboard laptops use costly and bulky switches designed for desktop keyboards, resulting in thick and heavy laptops that lack portability and comfort in use,” said Steven Chen VP of GIGABYTE Mobile Business Center.

“As a leading innovator in the gaming laptop market with our AORUS professional gaming brand, we set out to redefine the standard for gaming laptops. The result is the AORUS 15G – the first truly portable gaming laptop that satisfies the needs of esports professionals.”

Traditional laptop keyboards use membrane designs that lack the speed and tactile feedback that gamers demand, while also being prone to failure. However, efforts to integrate mechanical switches from desktop keyboards, which typically have 3-4mm key heights, resulted in laptops with weights in excess of 4.5kg and thicknesses of 5mm or more. This made them unsuitable for professional gamers who needed portability and ergonomic designs.

GIGABYTE solved this challenge with the AORUS 15G, the result of a partnership with world-renowned Japanese mechanical switch manufacturer OMRON. AORUS 15G features key switches with a 1.6mm actuation point that are 20% faster than typical laptop keyboards, but without adding the excessive bulk and weight that plague other mechanical keyboard laptops.

Despite being the world’s thinnest and lightest mechanical keyboard gaming laptops, the AORUS 15G and 17G do not compromise on performance. Available with the latest Intel 10th Gen processors and NVIDIA RTX 2080 SUPER graphics, the AORUS series dominate any game that you can throw at them. Their professional esports credentials are also enhanced by the use of tournament-grade 240Hz gaming displays.

Furthermore, with Windforce Infinity cooling technology and a battery life of up to 8-hours, gamers can stay cool while they compete, without the distraction of noisy cooling fans.

While not available to purchase today, the flagship desktop-replacement laptop of the AORUS range, the AORUS 17X is confirmed to arrive later in June. Sporting the same compact mechanical keyboard design found in the 15G and 17G and enhanced Windforce infinity cooling, the AORUS 17X offers 10th Generation Intel Core i9 and i7 CPU options including the 8-core i9-10980HK with a clock speed of 5.3 GHz and Intel thermal Velocity Boost dynamic overclocking technology. Powerful CPU options combined with NVIDIA RTX 2080 and 2070 SUPER series graphics make this one of the most powerful laptops available on the market.
