IT distributor Target Components has announced that its annual Open Day, set to take place in September, has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
Target’s full statement is below:
In the light of the current coronavirus crisis, we have taken the decision to cancel this years’ Open Day.
If it were scheduled in the next few weeks it would almost certainly fall under the guidance of ‘unnecessary social gatherings’, and there is little reason at this stage to have confidence that the situation will be any better in September.
We could not in good conscience ask our customers and exhibitors to make commitments to travel – in some cases from overseas – to spend a day in a room full of hundreds of resellers.
We have not taken this decision lightly – this will be the first year since 2007 that we won’t hold a major customer event and we believe there is tremendous value for you all in our Open Days – but in the light of current circumstances it was, unfortunately, inevitable.
We thank you all for your understanding.
