Exertis enters the pet tracker market with new Mishiko distribution deal

Exertis has announced an agreement to distribute the Mishiko GPS and fitness tracker for pets to designated resellers in the UK.

The gadget features real-time GPS tracking, an obesity diagnostic tool based on AI and a tailor-made health and well-being fitness planner.

According to analysis from Grand View Research, GPS tracking devices are gaining increasing popularity with the demand for GPS based pet wearables expected to grow at the highest CAGR of 14.8 % from 2017 to 2025.

The Pet Food Manufacturers Association (PFMA) has estimated that there are 8.5 million dogs in the UK and research from pet insurers More Th>N maintain that five dogs go missing every day. The use of tracking wearable devices for finding lost and stolen pets is likely to further drive demand in this sector. In addition, the market growth is further boosted by concern over obesity in pets with the PFMA estimating that 52% of dogs and 47% of cats are overweight, reducing life expectancy by 2 to 3 years.

“There is a large pool of pet owners in the UK and the tech pet market is growing with particular interest in GPS tracking, and the ability to monitor the wellbeing and fitness of your pet,” said Gareth Phillips, Exertis Home’s head of commercial.

“Mishiko uses innovative and cutting-edge technology but at an affordable price with an unlimited data tariff which makes it an attractive consumer product for pet lovers. Indeed, it makes an ideal gift that can potentially save a dog or cat owner from expensive veterinary costs by using an easy to setup and bespoke assessment planning tool that creates a unique profile of your pet’s activity and behaviour.”

The Mishiko tracker is waterproof and lightweight and comes in a hard-wearing snap collar with a handy light. Battery life is on average 2-3 days with a wireless charger that takes less than three hours to recharge.

The device can be controlled and monitored using the free Mishiko app that works with iOS or Android. The GPS tracking can trace a pet within four metres and a geofence can be activated to prompt alarms if it strays outside of a certain area.

Roman Plyushchenkov, Mishiko’s managing director, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Exertis. Their retail and logistics expertise will ensure that our retailers have enough product to meet the demands of a growing market. Our product has received excellent reviews due to its innovative features and price-performance and has great potential in a largely untapped market.”
