Exertis has announced a distribution agreement with desktop vacuum former manufacturer Mayku.
The Mayku FormBox works with any vacuum cleaner and a wide selection of different materials, enabling moulds to be made in minutes with no software or digital model manipulation needed.
Exertis will supply the product along with Mayku’s range of consumables with two types of sheets – Form and Cast.

“Mayku has launched a breakthrough product that provides independent makers with production powers they’ve simply never had before. It provides the perfect accompaniment to 3D printing and has huge potential in the education, consumer and B2B markets.”
The Mayku FormBox comes with a starter kit, 30 sheets of material and a universal vacuum connector. It works by heating a sheet of plastic and laying it over a 3D form, then using the vacuum to suck out the air to create an air-tight seal.
A timer can be set after the plastic has been inserted and the temperature set. The sheet cools and makes a mould of the shape in seconds. Moulds can be cast using a wide range of materials from cement to chocolate.
