Can GAME’s Gamer Claus be as popular as last year’s Christmas Shopping Simulator?

GAME has unveiled a new character that will be the face of the retailer throughout the Christmas period.

Created by illustrator Boneface, ‘Gamer Claus’ is a mysterious new character, heralded as the ‘champion of gamers’.

“Gamer Claus will be on-hand to guide and advise those gift-giving shoppers to get the best gaming deals, exclusives and bundles, in-store or online at game.co.uk to make sure every gaming fan gets something totally awesome under the tree this year,” said the retailer.

Gamer Claus will feature in TV, print and radio advertising throughout December and will also appear in a series of online videos.

“In preparation for the big day, Gamer Claus has been hidden away, trying and testing the biggest games of the year, growing stronger with each new release and we can’t wait to introduce him to the gaming community. As the hero of all things gaming, GAME’s ethos really sits at heart of Gamer Claus helping both gifters and gamers get exactly what they want this Christmas,” said Fred Prego, marketing and insight director at GAME.

“So whether you are a gamer wanting to get involved with his world of mystery and get the inside scoop on the latest releases or a gifter looking to find out more about the best gaming offers, Gamer Claus will be on hand to help everyone get the most from GAME Season.”

But can Gamer Claus be as big a hit as GAME’s Christmas marketing stunt in 2014?

Jumping on the back of popular simulator titles such as Goat Simulator, I Am Bread and the iconic Farming Simulator, GAME launched a free-to-play festive-themed title for PC and Mac called Christmas Shopper Simulator.

Last December, Sherif Aziz, developer at Freak Storm Games, commented: “Of course it’s ridiculous, but it’s so brilliantly addictive we can’t believe someone hasn’t made it already!

“One warning though: Christmas Shopper Simulator can feel so realistic that you might believe you have already done your Christmas shopping. You haven’t. Don’t forget to go shopping for real!”

It proved a hit with our readers last year and it seems people just can’t get enough of the title as we’ve noticed an influx in interest over the past month. Lucky for you all, it’s still downloadable.
