Firm expects its new HyperX-branded mouse mats to be a hit with the gaming community

Kingston ups focus on PC game accessory market

Memory specialist Kingston Technology is increasing its focus on the PC game accessory market after seeing growth.

The firm has its own HyperX-branded components including SSDs, RAM and more, as well as more recently peripherals such as headsets and now mouse mats (which were shown off at the Ingram Micro SMB Alliance Forum last week).

In January earlier this year Kingston started to split off ‘HyperX’ from Kingston Technology to create a separate gaming brand.

Edward Baily, EMEA HyperX Business Manager, told PCR: "We have seen the PC gaming market grow around 11 per cent a year in revenue and this is forecasted to continue well into the future.

"There has been an increase in demand for high quality gaming peripherals to use with these PCs and we already offer the best gaming SSDs, USBs and DRAM.

"HyperX has been in the gaming DRAM segment for 11 years now and this was the next logical step to bring our quality, experience and performance to the peripherals gaming market."

Baily added: "Right now we are very focused on the gaming headset market and we have brought to market the HyperX Cloud headset in two colours Black and White.

"We also attend many gaming events globally (such as DreamHack, Gamescom and Intel Extreme Masters series) and we always offer fans the chance to play on our booths, so it made sense to develop gaming mouse pads next.

"We expect them to be popular amongst the gaming community and we hope we can improve gamers’ experiences using these. With the new Skyn dual pack mousepads we offer the gamer the chance to change surfaces between ‘Control’ or ‘Speed’ depending on what type of game they are playing."
