The Sims 4 swimming pool scrapping sparks fan outrage

The Sims 4 – the latest in EA’s incredibly popular PC gaming series The Sims – has sparked fan outrage over its omission of swimming pools and toddlers.

An online petition against the change has now passed 16,000 signatures. It reads: “Without toddlers, newborns will age straight up into children which will impair the possibility for story telling – a huge thing for the Simming community. We also want pools."

The Sims 4 executive producer Rachel Franklin explained: "When we sat down and looked at everything we wanted to do for this game, all the new tech we wanted to build into it, the fact was that there would be trade-offs, and these would disappoint some of our fans. Hard pill to swallow, believe me, but delivering on the vision set out for The Sims 4 required focus. Focus on revolutionising the Sims themselves."
