Tech-laden utility features USB ports and Bluetooth speakers – plus 'support' for a wine stopper

Creator of tech towel holder TowlHub ‘in talks with UK retailers’

A US firm has given one of the most unassuming kitchen utilities a tech-laden makeover – and it’s headed to the UK.

The TowlHub equips the kitchen towel holder with four USB ports for charging devices, and is also available in a ‘TowlTunes’ version, which features wireless Bluetooth speakers.

A removable wine stopper holder is also integrated into the metal tube.

Described as a ‘one-of-a-kind tower of power’, the TowlHub starts at $49.99 (£30) for the standard USB hub, with the TowlTunes costing $79.99 (£48).

The firm behind the kitchen towel tech has also opened pre-orders for the similarly-equipped LampHub.

However, all of the electronic utilities are yet to make it to UK shores.

Creator of the TowlHub Dan Whitlach told PCR: "I do have plans to get the TowlHub over there into the UK soon with the UK power adapter."

He added that he was currently considering which retailers to contact regarding stocking the product, saying: "I’m currently talking to a few retail product companies now in the UK," and encouraged interested firms to get in touch.

Orders are currently only being taken through American sites, including Amazon.com, on which the TowlHub has nothing but five-star reviews.

Customer reviews of the product include L. Gonzales’ proclamation: "Wow! The person who invented this must be a genius!"

Patricia Reilly similarly commented: "How many times have I looked for an open outlet to plug in yet another device? And, looking for a paper towel in your kitchen or office or shop? This solves two problems in one… Great idea. I’m giving one to all of my kids…"
