New iteration of Android console doubles internal memory capacity and boosts hardware specs

Upgraded version of Ouya games console released

An improved version of the Ouya games console has been released.

The $99 (£60) Android-powered console, which was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, originally included 8GB of storage and suffered some criticisms for its lack of capacity.

The new Ouya doubles that space to 16GB and also makes some improvements to the console’s other hardware, boosting its specs to include an Nvidia Tegra 3 T33 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and improved Wi-Fi connectivity. Additional storage capacity can be added via a USB port.

The box has also been given a cosmetic makeover, adopting a matte black look instead of the original shiny silver and refining the design of the included wireless controller. The latest up-to-date firmware is also included.

The new Ouya 16GB is on sale now in North America for $129 (£79). UK details are yet to be released.
