10 per cent of sales to go towards charity

Humble Bundle launches own Steam-compatible digital store

The organisation behind the charity fundraising Humble Bundle has launched its own digital distribution store.

Humble Bundle offers weekly and monthly collections of games that players can choose how much to pay for – most games are available to unlock with Steam keys for $1 (£0.63), with more popular games often requiring donators to pay the average price, which rarely exceeds $10 (£6.30).

Among the many games offered in the past through the bundle were Batman: Arkham City, Super Meat Boy, Metro 2033, Saints Row: The Third, Battlefield 3 and Dead Space 3.

In a change from the bundles, on the standalone store games are instead offered at fixed prices, which are still greatly reduced from their RRPs.

Deals are set to change daily and, as with the bundled games, support a mix of Mac, Linux and Windows, with DRM-free and Steam keys available for compatible games.

Current offers on the store include Don’t Starve, Euro Truck Simulator 2, Rogue Legacy, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Gunpoint and The Swapper.

Another difference is that users cannot choose what percentage goes to charity, with a fixed 10 per cent going towards the American Red Cross, Child’s Play Charity, Electronic Frontier Foundation, World Land Trust and charity: water charities.
