Former Dixons man set to re-enter UK retail taking on High Street brand Monsoon Accessorize

Ex-Apple retail chief John Browett takes on new UK chain

After departing Apple last October, the former Dixons man has been named as the chief executive for UK retailer Monsoon Accessorize.

Browett takes on the new position just four months after his swift exit from Apple last October, during which he headed up Apple’s 400-store retail empire.

However, the move comes just one year after Browett quit Dixons as chief executive amidst reports of a management shake-up and backlash from employees over store staffing changes.

In his new role, Browett is set to take on a much greater challenge, overseeing Monsoon Accessorize’s retail landscape of 1,000 stores across 74 counties, 400 of which are based within the UK.

Whilst the move is one that will see him leave the technology sector, Browett does bring experience to the position having previously held the role of senior executive at supermarket giant Tesco.

In a statement following the new, Monsoon Accessorize founder Peter Simon said the firm went through "an extensive search" to find a new CEO, which resulted in the hire of Browett.

"John has the skills and experience needed to take Monsoon Accessorize to the next level," Simon said.
