Retailer sees communication technology sales soar by 78 per cent

John Lewis sales boosted by phones and tablets

Phones and tablets boosted John Lewis’ communications technology sales by 78 per cent in the week leading up to June 23rd.

According to Electronic Retail Times, the sales growth was spurred primarily by the group’s largest ever recorded demand for Apple products as well as a 20 per cent rise in sales of e-readers.

“Our performance in electricals continues to delight, returning a 28.2 per cent lift on the year. Much of the strength in this area comes from customers continuing to buy into our new technology offer with our Communication Technology department,” commented John Lewis’ buying and brand director, Peter Ruis.
